YPN - About Us

Our Mission: To engage young professionals in the Urban League movement, toward social and economic empowerment.

Our History: YPN was established in 1999 as an organization trains, develops, and educates young professionals to take leadership roles within the National Urban League, the civil rights movement, and society-at-large. Members of YPN are defining, developing, implementing, and leading the next generation civil rights agenda.

Our Focus: We will further the initiatives of the Northern Virginia Urban League and provide a forum for young professionals that foster professional development, social consciousness, and civic involvement.

Our Accomplishments:We developed a number of programs designed to address the specific needs our community while utilizing the energy and enthusiasm of our membership. Those programs include College Survival 101, which served over 150 families over the past 9 years, and Opportunity to Thrive, which has served over 65 students since the spring of 2008. Please visit our programs page for more information on these and many other YPN programs.
